About Elyse
The accidental poet who wrote the book she couldn't find.
Elyse Singer spent years professionally — in corporate boardrooms, graduate classrooms, and strategy sessions — before she found her most important writing desk: a quiet corner at home, after bedtime, with her children asleep down the hall.
She didn't plan to be a poet. She became one because she needed to be.
After October 7, 2023, Elyse began writing to process what felt unfathomable: the weight of rising antisemitism, the fear for her children's future, and the gap between how she had grown up experiencing her Jewish identity — quietly, with some ambivalence — and how she wanted her children to carry theirs.
The more she wrote, the more clearly she saw what was missing. Not books about holidays and tradition (there are wonderful ones). Books about simply being Jewish and feeling proud of it. So she wrote one.
Elyse holds a Master's in Organizational Psychology and works full-time in Corporate Strategy & Operations. She lives in Florida with her husband and their two young children, and shares her writing on Instagram at @elysesingerwrites.

The story behind Within You
For a long time, Elyse's relationship with her Jewish identity was complicated. She observed. She belonged. But she did not always feel the quiet pride she wanted to feel — and didn't have the language to explain why, or what she was missing.
October 7 changed that. In the weeks and months that followed, Elyse began writing poetry as a way to process her grief, her fear, and her determination. Something shifted as she wrote. Her identity stopped being something she navigated quietly and became something she wanted to name out loud.
And then she thought about her children. She didn't want them to spend their formative years the way she had — uncertain, occasionally apologetic, waiting to find a confidence that should have been theirs from the beginning. She wanted them to have a book that said: this is who you are, and it is something beautiful.
